John Rosner 2005-present

John Rosner grew up in the great state of Minnesota. His musical life started at the piano through his mother, who was a local piano teacher. John picked up the trumpet in Elementary school and performed on that instrument through high school in Melrose, Minnesota and later St Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. In high school, he sat principal chair in the trumpet section, was the youngest player in the high school jazz band, played in the marching band, the pep band as well as being involved in solo/ensemble contest at a young age. Thanks to his band director Al Hansen, he was given extra opportunities and encouragement to be ready for a college level music program. At the end of high school, he was awarded the John Philip Sousa Award his senior year and was accepted into St Cloud State University. By the time he finished his first year, Rosner was the only Freshmen to make the audition into the top wind ensemble. While at SCSU, Rosner was a member of the Wind Ensemble, the Concert Band, the Jazz Ensemble 1, The Jazz Combo 1, conducted and performed with the Low Brass Ensemble, was a member of the SCSU composers club, was the assistant conductor of the Wind Ensemble, received a fellowship to the Art of Wind Band Conducting at the University of MN with Craig Kirchhoff and Frederick Fennell, and graduated with honors in 1998. He currently resides in Elk River, MN with his wife Abigail and son William.
